RID
RID, a photobook by Alexandre J. Verdon published in 2019 from more than twenty years of archives.
An excerpt of the archives of A.J.V. that he wants to "get rid of" after looking back more objectively. Judging these rolls of films and the switch made to digital unsuccessful, should all this picturesque narrative collection –anchored in personal memories– be kept? be shown? be?
Art is so subjective that obviously the answer was NO. The easiest way would be total destruction, with a kind of catalog to fix a mark in time printed, nothing else should be kept.
"As a talent hunter in the photographic field, I've always pretended that I'm not myself a photographer, and considered my work as mediocre on the best days." A.J.V.
The best part came after the publication was available. Surprisingly, after dispatching the books to family, artists and professionals of the art business, the feedback was more than enjoyable, and the photographs highly appreciated.
In 2023, the first exhibition opens in Beijing.
"Resting state" exhibition was displaying hundreds of photos in tiny format, most of them appear in the book RID.
